Anniversary Give Away – Day 5

Posted 1 week ago @

Happy 10th Anniversary Month to Me continues with another give away today!

I’ll be giving away books donated by my friend and organizing colleague Judith Kolberg. Judith is an expert in chronic disorganization. Some would even say she coined the term when she founded the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization (which has now changed names to the Institute for Challenging Disorganization).

Well Judith has kindly donated some give-aways for my birthday bash!!!

I am giving away 20 signed, first edition copies of her book Conquering Chronic Disorganization, which can be found on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, and also electronic editions for Kindle and Nook. The book is a “must read” for anyone who cares about someone who struggles daily with disorganization and truly helpful for Professional Organizers who work with those folks. The book is also on the recommended resource list for the Certified Professional Organizer exam.

But alas, there is a limited number. So I will be holding a drawing on Friday at Noon ET.

If you would like to win a signed copy of the book Conquering Chronic Disorganization by Judith Kolberg, leave a happy anniversary comment on this blog post. I will pick winners at random using the Random Number Picker http://www.randomnumberpicker.com/.

I’ll also spring for the shipping costs.
Winners will be notified by email using the email address used to post your comment.

Good luck!

P.S. – Don’t forget to sign up for the Pinterest webinars for beginners and for business.
It’s the hottest site on the web right now and you don’t want to miss out on all the fun.

Dreams Goals

October 12th, 2009 @

A dream is just a dream until you give it some structure. That’s the umph! that gives you motivation to keep going even when you don’t feel like it.

The umph! I’m talking about is making the goal meaningful.
Check out this drawing from my “Color Me Organized” series.
It may help you to realize your dreams.

Dream Goal, Color Me Organized

Dream Goal, Color Me Organized

Make your goal desirable – something you really really want

Is your goal relevant to you? Does it have meaning for you beyond the thing-ness? Is it really someone else’s dream?

Is your dream easy enough to maintain? If you have too many hoops to jump through, your dream will become a burden. Make it simple… or as simple as possible.

Is your dream attainable? I know you can do anything you set your mind to… and some things are still out of your control. You cannot just decide to win the lottery. Stick to things you CAN make happen.

Does your dream match your needs and style? It’s nice to dream about traveling around the world, but if you have a job that needs your attention, you may have to compromise for traveling sometimes to match your need to bring in income.

When you’re ready to reach for your dream life, write down your dream and the things it will take to get there.

And dream big!

Color Me Organized is even more colorful

October 27th, 2008 @

Coming up with ideas is difficult for so many people.
Not for us creatives!
Ideas come bubbling up all the time for me.
I had so many more activity and how-to ideas that I had to update the activity-play-book for the clutter-challenged.

I’ve uploaded the newest version on lulu.com (she said relieved – as if going through childbirth.)
Take a sneak peek here:

Here’s a page that didn’t go in the book.
It is part of the Color-Me-Organized workshop.

Creating Books

October 19th, 2008 @

Creative people couldn’t be living at a better time.
Our techie counterparts have made it soooo easy for us to take our ideas and make them into interesting and memorable products that can be used for ourselves, shared, and sold.
I’m talking about books. Picture books. Word books. Work books. And play books.
The internet abounds with places to put your creative works on paper.

Photography lovers have a multitude of options for creating picture books that are of artistic nature, or just a photo album for the family or to commemorate an event. I’m no photography buff, nor am I a graphic artist, but I was able to make a photo book for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary in minutes using apple’s program straight from my iphoto library.

There are so many times these sites would be a great resource: weddings, birthdays, art portfolio, kids’ artwork keepsake book, and I recently saw someone who scanned all of her concert tickets and made a book of concert memories. (Makes me wanna scream “freebird!”) And how about a cookbook with photos? So many ideas, so little time. (a Right Brainer’s curse) And for all you bloggers, you can turn your blog posts and photos into a book on blurb as well. (see example on their site)

Just a few resources for creating photo books are:
blurb
snapfish
ophoto
flickr
bighugelabs – lots of fun products
apple – using iphoto
lulu

For the writers, there are countless websites that allow you to create anything and everything you want in book form and on some there is no cost at all besides the printing and shipping. And what I love on many is that you can print one or thousands.
I have used lulu.com myself for a workbook, tips books, and a coloring/how-to playbook for organizing. But there are so many places to go if you want a printed book of your own poetry, comic strips or any other writing.
Some options are:
lulu
iuniverse
booksurge
xlibris
