My next anniversary give-away is a webinar on a subject I could use right now as I get ready for summer bathing suit season.
Getting healthy and fit can be very challenging.
One way to make it easier is to have a pantry and fridge that are organized for your good health.
Organizing your pantry and fridge not only keeps them looking great, but it helps you to be able to find whatever you need in seconds. That saves you preparation time, and unnecessary trips to the store.
Join me for a webinar on organizing for health and nutrition with Registered Dietitian Pramila Duphare.
Pramila has been working in Hospitals and Nursing homes for 30 years. She has extensive background in Clinical Nutrition and has been in charge of supervising hospital/ nursing home kitchens.
You will learn:
* How to store food and use it when it is at its best so you are never in doubt if it is “still good”.
* How to buy and store the food items which are healthy for you and your family so you will have healthier meals.
* How to avoid food spoilage which leads to waste, or worse: food poisoning and sickness.
* Meal planning for the best nutritional benefits.

If you haven’t heard about it yet, Pinterest.com is a website that allows you to clip pictures and articles, upload your own, and categorize them onto virtual bulletin boards. The fun part is exploring the site and seeing what other people are “pinning” and commenting and re-pinning for yourself.
The interface is simple, but some don’t find it completely intuitive.
For that reason I’m presenting two webinars.

Pinterest is all the rage for capturing and organizing ideas, and many of my readers have discovered the basics.
I hope that after seeing my recent webinar you have been able to browse, pin, re-pin and comment.
Here is your next trick: Creating a group board for sharing ideas
Why do you want to do this?? Well if not for sincere sharing then at least for numbers
When you add contributors to your board, all of your contributors magically have that board show up as one of their boards.
So the group board is seen by your followers but also those who follow the other contributors.
In addition, you can remove yourself from a board by going to the board and clicking “remove”.
Now about numbers.
As a pinterest user, I have about 1600+ followers.
But my board that is a group board has 2900+ followers… so anything I post there is seen by more than twice as many people. Hmmmm. Something to munch on (like all the great food photos on pinterest).
Group boards are great for personal use:
Wedding ideas
Fan followings
Hobby boards (scrapbooking, knitting, modgepodge)
Similar interests
They are also great for business sharing.
Group board ideas:Teachers sharing resources
Graphic design fonts, designs, templates
Technology new gizmos and gadgets

Happy Pinning!
If you haven’t heard about it yet, Pinterest is the newest, hottest, most happening, uh, social media site. I hesitate to say social because it’s up-and-coming socially speakiing. Right now it’s mostly a lot of very interesting people posting pictures of pretty cool stuff on “virtual bulletin boards”.
Imagine you’re in a room with a stack of of magazines cutting out articles and pictures and you get to put the pictures up on an unlimited number of bulletin boards on the walls around the room. You This is what Pinterest would be like if it was just you. But it’s not just you. There are now 11 Million other people out there also creating bulletin boards and “pinning” cool stuff on them… and you can look at all of their boards and they can look at yours. When they like something on your board, they can ‘like it’, ‘re-pin’ it, or comment on it, or a combo. These virtual pin boards are the reason so many visual people are drawn to the site. It’s a never-ending series of shiny objects to distract you.But it’s much more than that. When used to it’s max,it is also a place to categorize, classify, and organize your hobbies, projects, collections, and much more.
So now that you know what it is, why should you bother knowing what it is?
1. 11 million people are there today and it’s growing exponentially. That’s a lot of potential to brand you and your biz.
2. People share and re-pin things they like, a lot!! It creates instant buzz and traffic to your website. Each “pin” leads you back to the site where it came from.
3. It’s fun, so people are spending a lot of time there. The average person spends more than an hour on the site (from latest stats I saw). I personally flip through it for hours like reading a magazine while watching TV. Can you say addicted? Yes! That’s because I am the prime demographic which leads to #4.
4. Women make up more than 90% of the website users!!! If you’re business and you like to market to women, this is the place to be right now.
The learning curve is pretty easy – compared to Facebook and Twitter.
I have many tips for making the most of your business branding on Pinterest that I will share in Tuesday’s webinar – using Evernote and Pinterest to Capture Ideas and Information (and organize them too).
More information on the webinar HERE
The webinar is hosted by NAPO Georgia – (National Association of Professional Organizers, Georgia chapter)
I found these tips from a 1050s Home Economics class about how to prepare your home for when your husband comes back from work each day.
Some of the tips are right on the money! Some are a sadly out-dated as the role of women has changed drastically. Gave me a good little laugh and the pleasure of I’m no longer responsible for looking refreshed when my husband arrives home. I can’t touch up my make-up if I’m not wearing any.
Compiled by Ms. Leslie Blankship
Columbus, Ohio
Have dinner ready: Plan ahead even the night before to have a delicious meal on time. This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home and the prospects of a good meal are part of the warm welcome needed.
Yes – do plan ahead! Not just for your family but also for yourself! It saves you time, money, and last minute stress.
Prepare yourself: Take 15 minutes to rest so you will be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your makeup, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking. He has just been with a lot of work-wary people. Be a little gay and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a lift.
Really? So glad we’re past this era.
Clear away the clutter: Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives, gathering up school books, toys, paper, etc. Then run a dust cloth over the tables. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift, too.
Yes – do this for yourself at the end of the day and you’ll prevent the mountain of clutter that piles up from a week of overlooking it.
The rest of these are just for your enterainment:
Prepare the children: Take a few minutes to wash the children’s hands and faces (if they are small), comb their hair, and if necessary, change their clothes. They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.
Minimize all noise: At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of washer, dryer, dishwasher, or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be quite. Be happy to see him. Greet him with a warm smile and be glad to see him. Some don’ts: Don’t greet him with problems or complaints. Don’t complain if he’s late for dinner. Count this as minor compared with what he might have gone through that day.
Make him comfortable: Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or suggest he lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soft soothing and pleasant voice. Allow him to relax-unwind.
Listen to him: You may have a dozen things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first.
Make the evening his: Never complain if he does not take you out to dinner or to other places of entertainment. Instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure, his need to be home and relax.
The goal: Try to make your home a place of peace and order where your husband can renew himself in body and spirit.
I found some wonderful antique magazines with home organizing tips from readers. I was surprised how some of the advice was still spot-on correct. Some of the tips were far outdated (using electricity was still considered dangerous due to shocking).
I want to share some of the suggestions in a new feature: Then & Now
THEN: This tip is from Good Housekeeping in 1922:
NOW: Most people still either fold their table cloths and put them on a shelf or they hang them up on hangers.
Either method lends itself to labeling by marking the fold. Though we’re not likely to embroider the mark, it is very easy to make a tag using a simple index card and using a safety pin to pin it on. Another way to mark the linens on the fold would be to attach an inch or two of masking tape (painters tape has less stickness) and mark the tape with the size.
After marking each table cloth, arrange by size (oval, round, rectangle, square) so that you can easily put your finger on the one you want in seconds.
This method can also be used for marking bed linens that can be confused if you have several sizes with the same color or pattern.
What else can you think of that can be marked on the fold like this? Towels? Blankets?
