So how did Allison land this interview?
Social networking on facebook. I was able to find old colleagues from my days at CNN. Valerie Hoff was seeking a coupon specialist and I hooked her up with Amy Bergin of The Couponizer, and a client.
At the same time, I offered to give her the scoop on how to save money getting organized.
You can do the same even if you don’t know reporters personally. When you see any stories about saving money or organizing or home improvement, send a quick message offering a story. Pitch an idea of what you would include and you never know who will bite. Good reporters and writers are always looking for story ideas!
