Getting an Apprenticeship
Q: How can I find an apprenticeship before starting my own business?
Julie, Plymouth, MN
A: Many organizers are open to having others watch and shadow, while others are not. They often feel they have worked hard to develop processes and procedures and do not think it is fair to give that information away without some kind of reciprocal arrangement.
If you would like an apprentice position to train with someone for your benefit, one of the best ways to approach a veteran organizer would be to pay for that experience.
You may also find someone who needs regular assistance on the job or in the office who would be open to bartering. You could help with bookkeeping or marketing in exchange for some hands-on education.
